Good Bye 2008

2008 was not the best year for me. So I am more than ready for 2009. No parties for me tonight. I am going to go to church to pray for a better year ahead. I will most likely be asleep by midnight. Although I am considering staying awake to order the KOTM from Creating Keepsakes. Have you seen it?? Check it out here. I hope they have enough of the kits to go around. It seems very popular. I look forward to capturing my year this way.  Our daily life.  Not just a few layouts or special occasions.  I think it will be a real gift to my children someday.

I hope you all have a safe, health and Happy New Year!!

Count down to New Years

Only 2 more days left in the year.  I've been thinking about this year and the new year.  So much has happened in 2008. In many ways in may have been my hardest year ever.  But I do feel like I have much to be thankful for, and I'm the type of person who sees the glass as half full, so I try to concentrate on the blessing. That having been said, I have much hope for 2009.

Now I'm not the type of person who really makes New Years Resolution, but I do have a few goals I hope to accomplish for the new year. Like,
  1.  working out on a regular basis
  2.  going back to church
  3.  date nights with my husband
  4.  being more patience, understanding and thoughtful ( a goal the whole family is working on)
  5.  cooking at home more
  6. keeping my new blog going and hoping people start leaving a little comment (please!)
  7. creating more layouts
  8. keeping up with Project 365
  9. working on becoming a better photographer
  10. continue to count my blessing
What are your goals/resolutions for the New Year???

Did someone get us a monkey for Christmas???

Oh no, that's just my son who thinks he is monkey!! It's so funny how he loves to climb all over his daddy and he can just hold himself up like that. We've been having fun here, just enjoying our days off and relaxing together.  The kids have been playing video games, we've been building Legos, and watching movies.
Tonight I promised the kids we could make some cookies.  Tomorrow we will go to church and then back to work on Monday.  The time sure goes by fast!  Only 4 more days left in the year!

Christmas is over!  All the prep and then it's over so fast!  We had a good Christmas. On Christmas Eve we went to see the kids cousins and had tacos.  First time I tried fish tacos, made with shark and this yummy white sauce.  So good!  On Christmas Day it was just the 4 of us. (Most of our family is not in the same state.)  I got up about 8:00 am and started a roast for dinner. The kids woke up about 8:30 in the morning (thank goodness not too early) and then we opened presents.  We had a light breakfast and the kids played with their toys.  A little rain, no snow here in California unless you're up in the mountains, so at least it was a cold Christmas.  I've had years where it was 80 or 85 degrees on Christmas.  All in all it was a nice relaxing day.

Hope your Christmas was wonderful!

Finally got a tree

We finally got our tree last night. Only 2 days before Christmas, just a little late. But at least we did it. We decided t just get a little one and Trey did all the decorating himself. Well helped with the lights, but he did the rest. I think it looks so cute! I also have all the gifts wrapped and the shopping done for Christmas dinner, so we are official ready for Christmas.

Also, here's the layout I did. It's for my daughters album. It about the way her brother adores her and looks up to her so much.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas! May all the peace, love and joy of this blessed season be yours.

Where does the weekend go??

The weekend goes so fast and then it's back to work!  So glad there will be a few extra days off for the holidays.

The kids and I made cupcakes yesterday.  We had a good time and the kids wanted to eat all the cupcakes.  I let them each have one and made them save the rest.

I even made a layout this weekend. But it's been raining so I will have to wait to get a good picture to upload.  I'll post it soon!

So much to do....

so little time.  Only 5 days till Christmas.  I have half the kids presents and they are wrapped.  But I still have to go out and get a few more things.  I hate the malls at this time of year.  My pet peeve is the parking.  There is never any parking and long lines in the parking lot.  But it must be done.

We are NOT going all out this Christmas. Just presents for the kids and that's it. In this economy who can do more, right? But it will still be a good Christmas.  I love seeing the excitement on the kids face when they open their presents.  They make Christmas magical for me.  Oh, that reminds me, I have to make some magic reindeer food for the kids to sprinkle outside on Christmas Eve.

Here's the recipe if you want to make some too:

1 cup oatmeal (uncooked)
Green sugar sprinkles (the kind you use for cookies)
Red sugar sprinkles
Glitter (optional)

without the glitter this is "safe" so to speak, in case animals try to eat it.

And here's the little saying that goes with it:

Sprinkle this magic food on your roof top or lawn
and Santa's reindeer will fly all night long!

This is a great little gift to give to kids for stocking or school bags, etc.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Dangerous designer here...

thanks to Cathy Z and the Design Your Life class I took at Big Picture Scrapbooking. I loved Cathy's class!!  Loved it!! I learned so much about design and gained so much confidence in my scrapbooking. Not to mention how funny and entertaining Cathy is. Each week I couldn't wait for Thursday to come so I could hear the new audio message and see what we'd be learning. There were great downloads and the gallery and messages boards were amazing. I highly recommend her class.

Here is my pre-class assignment. Cathy just gave us a sketch and said to put our style in it.  I choose not to put photos on mine, and just focus on the colors and flow of the design.  Then the last week of class (which was this week, it is a 12 week class) she asked us to pull back out this layout and try to identify all of the design elements that we learned in class.  Can you name any design elements in this layout???

Too cold for me

It was 38 degrees when I got in my car this morning.  That is too cold for California!  I feel like a snowman.  I know many parts of the country get way colder than this, but for me that is REALLY cold. But it does make it feel more like Christmas and my little one is so cute all wrapped up in his hat and scarf.  Doesn't he look cute??  I love the big gloves!

Learning how to navigate

and see if I can actually upload a layout, and add on some blogs i follow, and all that good stuff.
This is my son, who just adores everything star wars.  He asked Santa for a storm troopers helmet for Christmas. He is such a good, sweet boy...i'm sure Santa will bring it for him!

So it looks like I have a photo uploaded!  Yeah for me! So far so good!

Today is the first day of the rest of my blog

I've been thinking of joining the blogging world for a while now. I'm addicted to scrapbooking and want to be able to share my layouts and thoughts. I mean I might as well, since I spend hours on the internet looking at every blog about scrapbooking that I can find. And I think it will be very cool to be able to make a book out of my blog in a year or two. It's amazing the thing we are able to do with a computer!
